Client Support Volunteer Roles

Parent-to-Parent Support Volunteer
Volunteers with the Parent Support program assist new mothers and fathers in meeting their fullest potential as parents by offering compassionate, non-judgmental emotional and social support. Parent volunteers are matched with clients in need of guidance, support and a listening ear. They also assist clients in finding information and community resources and provide referrals to other organizations or agencies. Volunteers must meet the following qualifications:

Must be parents themselves (biological, foster, adoptive, grandparent, legal guardian)

Must have a genuine interest in reaching out and supporting other parents

Must be at a stable place within their own families
Parent Support Program Coordinator
Develop and coordinate all aspects of the Parent Support Program by following the Parent Support Program Plan. Carefully match Support Parent volunteers with the appropriate clients. Oversee the Volunteer Training Program. Program Coordinator must meet the following qualifications:

Master of Social Work degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Ability to supervise, empower and communicate well with Support Program volunteers

Experience working with a diverse group of people
-
Commitment to Support Program goals
Community Outreach Coordinator
Develop and implement outreach activities aimed at providing information about parent support services and Guiding Parents event details to parents in New York City. Serve as a liaison to community partners and agencies. Develop and distribute messages through print and social media. Community Outreach Coordinator must meet the following qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree
-
1+ year experience working with parents of babies and toddlers in New York City

Experience working with a diverse group of people
-
Excellent leadership, communications and organizational skills
Volunteer Coordinator
Plan, develop and coordinate all aspects of the Volunteer program. Recruit, attract, educate, recognize and retain volunteers. Assign volunteers, as required, to meet the needs of Guiding Parents. Oversee the Volunteer Orientation program. Volunteer Coordinator must meet the following qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree

1+ year volunteer management experience

Experience working with a diverse group of people

Excellent leadership, communications and organizational skills
Program Assistant
Provides assistance to the Parent Support Program Coordinator, Community Outreach Coordinator or Volunteer Coordinator
Program Assistant (Spanish)
Provides assistance to the Support Program Coordinator, Provides assistance to the Parent Support Program Coordinator, Community Outreach Coordinator or Volunteer Coordinator. Also provides assistance to Spanish-speaking Support Program volunteers and prospective Spanish-speaking volunteers. Must speak Spanish and English

Grant Writer

Write, edit, and coordinate inquiries, proposals, and reports for government agencies, corporations and foundations

Conduct research to find funding opportunities and potential donors

Maintain a calendar to track grant and reporting deadlines

Special projects and duties as assigned, including assistance with fundraising events
Marketing and Outreach Assistant
Help us advertise our Parent Support services to potential clients by distributing brochures, flyers, posters and other promotional materials to the businesses and organizations in your area.
Communications Assistant
Help administratively by drafting and editing content for the Guiding Parents quarterly newsletter, designing promotional materials and drafting email communications.
Special Events and Fundraising Assistant
Assist with special events and the Lecture Series. Responsibilities include event planning, decorations, publicity, soliciting donations and sponsorships, welcoming guests, event set up and event clean up.
